4 ...eggs
2 cups of sugar
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate (or 12 tablespoons of cocoa and 4 tablespoons of butter) don't skimp on the chocolate!
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon vanilla (dump in a little more)
1 cup chocolate chips (optional, but we use at least a half a bag if we've got them, sometimes more)
1 cup walnuts (optional, sometimes more, and I don't bother chopping them if they're already halved or quartered)
beat the eggs and the sugar.
melt the butter and chocolate. cool slightly.
mix the melted chocolate into the egg and sugar, add the flour, vanilla, chips and nuts.
bake in a 9x13 buttered pan at 350- start checking them at 20 minutes, taking care not to over bake. sometimes i go only as high as 325. they're really the best when they are JUST under baked.
