Horse Camp
We met up with Julie and Alayna Goos and we all slept in a yurt, which had bunk beds, a platform floor, no electricity and fireflies in the dome ceiling. Sarah and Julie used to be roommates so it was great fun to have a weekend of visiting, catching up, relaxing, and spending time with our girls.
Alayna and Veronica were ready for an early morning ride!

Riding Horses at Horse Camp
Of course, we rode horses at Horse Camp!
Veronica's horse's name is DoodleBug, but we thought he should have been named DoddleBug because he liked to stop and munch on grass more than walk.
DoodleBug had to learn that Veronica was in charge and that it was riding time, not munching time.
Sarah rode a big horse named Duke.

More Horse Camp Activities
A Pontoon Boat ride was lots of fun. We went to an island that was inhabited with magical creatures.
Veronica and Alayna had the raft to themselves.
Up on the climbing wall...
Carpet Ball bacame a favorite game. Veronica (in the foreground) and Alayna are playing each other while many cheer them on.

Mt. Horeb Fire Muster
Madison Chidlren's Museum
We visited the Madison Children's Museum on Friday. It was our first visit and we had a lot of fun checking out all of the hands-on exhibits. The kids really liked the rock table with digger and dump trucks. We also played with pretend fruit stands and gardens, "milked" life-size plastic cows, dug for dinosaur bones and drove a car. What fun! There were so many things to see and do!

Sun Prairie Sweet Corn Festival
Our annual trip to the Corn Fest was a bit of a downer this year. It was cancelled due to flooding!

After seeing that the Corn Fest was rained out, we tried to buy fresh sweet corn to eat at home - no luck! They were all sold out.

We ate dinner at Culver's, but, as you can see, we were all very upset about the lack of sweet corn. I guess we'll just have to eat twice as much corn next year!

A Rainy Day at Home Depot
It has been very cool and rainy here, so we haven't been doing a lot outside. On a trip to Home Depot for light bulbs we had some fun exploring all the sheds in the parking lot and testing out the latest mowers.

Apparently light bulbs and lawn mower rides are a norm; as we left, a pair of little girls with their dad started trying out the lawn mowers. He had only come for some light bulbs as well.

Mt. Vernon Shirt Sail
Here are some pictures of the shirt sail that we described to some of you. It's a pretty easy set up. It looks like a frame with rope strung across like a clothes line and the shirts are hung using clothes pin. It's set back from the road, so you do have to walk through some brush to get there. The sign says "Shirt Sail - Feel free to make a swap!"

This is a close up shot of how the shirts are hung on the sail.
